Danilo Pinnock Jr., widely known as JR, is the Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach at Frederick High School. He is a former collegiate basketball star from The George Washington University, where he played for three impressive seasons. JR was drafted in the second round of the NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks and subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. His professional basketball career spanned Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
For the past eight years, JR has dedicated himself to coaching and player development in the Washington Metropolitan area. He has proudly coached for several esteemed organizations, including DC Premier, Prospect U, Metroball Pinnock Elite, and Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy. In 2022, Coach JR led the Berman Hebrew Academy varsity girls’ team to their first PVAC tournament championship, showcasing his coaching abilities.
A Georgia native and proud father, Coach JR brings valuable life lessons to his coaching philosophy, emphasizing the importance of preparation and attention to detail. Two key lessons imparted by his parents, which he instills in his players, are: “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail,” and “The difference between good and great is attention to detail.”
